Over several years, the teams of the COBRA laboratory have developed strong and lasting partnerships with the pharmaceutical and base chemicals sectors. Thanks to its wide range of skills in synthesis and structural analysis associated with exceptional technical support facilities, COBRA has become an important partner for these manufacturers. These partnerships have lead to several CIFRE and sponsored PhDs, and the establishment of a joint laboratory with Janssen (in the summer of 2011). The research at the UMR COBRA has also produced several patents. Some of these have lead to the creation of start-ups, which are supported by COBRA, operating on its premises.

The COBRA laboratory is a mixed research unit (UMR-6014) combining the CNRS, INSA Rouen and the University of Rouen. It is located at the IRCOF (Institute of Fine Organic Chemistry Research) at the University of Rouen, in Mont Saint Aignan.
One of the major assets of the laboratory is the fact that it develops its research activities in both Organic Synthesis and Analytical Chemistry. It has exceptional technical support facilities (C2I Orga) with state of the art equipment for the latest innovative methods. COBRA has recognized expertise in heterocyclic, organometallic, fluorine, bioorganic and analytical chemistry.
The research touches the domains of pharmaceuticals, medical imaging, cosmetics, food processing, the environment and energy.
Our Missions : Discover new concepts, innovative methodologies of synthesis and new structures, analyze structures and mechanisms, develop the interaction between chemistry and biosciences, contribute to the transfer of expertise to industry, train quality professionals through research.
