BIOGRAPHY

Hélène Lavanant obtained an Engineering degree from the Ecole Polytechnique (Palaiseau, France) in 1994, she then went on to an M. Sc. in Organic Chemistry in 1995. In 1998, she completed a PhD thesis with Dr Yannik Hoppilliard on the interactions of transition metals cations with amino-acids and peptides in the gas phase. She spent five months in 1996 working with Prof P. J. Derrick and A. Heck on nisin at Warwick University, and one year as a postdoctoral fellow at Cornell University (NY, USA) with Prof. F. W Mc Lafferty. She was appointed assistant professor at the Rouen Normandy University in November 1999 where she worked with Prof. C. Lange until 2011. Since 2011, she is a team member of Carlos Afonso’s group where she focusses on ion mobility, collision cross section of cluster ions and polyoxometalates and the molecular mapping of biomass samples.
